Human Resources Generalist

The Role:

The HR Generalist provides HR support to leaders and employees at the Whitby Distribution Centre.

Your key accountabilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide recruitment support which includes posting job openings, screening and interviewing candidates, preparation of job offers, coordination of background screening and new hire packages.
  • Facilitate the onboarding of new employees.
  • Support annual HR cyclical programs such as performance review process, compensation planning, benefits enrollment, etc.
  • Offer advice and guidance on all matters pertaining to legislative compliance and employee relations, including discipline procedure.
  • Conduct exit interviews.
  • Facilitate corporate HR training programs.
  • Provide guidance on internal policies and procedures.
  • Assist with special projects, company events, and activities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education along with Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation or working toward designation;
  • 3+ years’ experience in an HR generalist role;
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Ontario Employment Standards Act and all legislative requirements;
  • Thorough understanding of HR best practices, employee relations, labour relations, etc.;
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with leaders and employees;
  • Effective interpersonal skills along with proven ability to exercise sound judgment, tact and discretion;
  • Demonstrated expertise with proven experience communicating sensitive messages, processes and procedures;
  • Ability to coach employees and leaders through difficult situations and supporting them through change;
  • A master juggler with excellent organizational, time-management and multi-tasking skills;
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
